چکیده
Field experiments were conducted on pastoral and agro-pastoral areas of South Omo Zone at Dasenech, Hammer Gynagatom woredas Zone, Southern Ethiopia four cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L) Walp.] varieties in 2019 under irrigation. The objective the study was to select best performing target areas. included field experiment (Black eye bean, Bole, TVU, Kankeit). carried out using a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. combined analysis variance results depicted that there significant differences among for all studied parameters except number seeds per pod. mean values plant height ranged from 84.89 (cm) variety Bole 120.67 TVU. pods 24.33 46.90 value 100 weight maximum (21.11g) black bean and, while it minimum (17.11 g) highest overall grain yield 2457.0 kg ha-1 recorded Kankeit 1695.3 noted bean. Therefore, TVU could be recommended however further research should done put recommendation strong basis. Int. J. Agril. Res. Innov. Tech. 12(1): 137-140, June 2022

This study was carried out to determine the effects of single infections and co-infections of three unrelated viruses on three cowpea cultivars (one commercial cowpea cultivar "White" and 2 IITA lines; IT81D-985 and TVu 76). The plants were inoculated with Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV), genus Potyvirus, Cowpea mottle virus (CMeV), genus Carmovirus and Southern bean mosaic virus (SBMV)...
متن کاملA Review of Molecular Makers Applied in Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.) Breeding
In recent years, with the rapid development of molecular biology, molecular markers have been widely used in genetic breeding of various crops including cowpea. However, molecular researches in cowpea are lack of systematic summary. This review presents an overview of accomplishments on different aspects of molecular markers in cowpea genetic breeding, such as genetic diversity analysis, geneti...

After decades of research on cowpea, significant amount of omics datasets are available and useful in understanding the genetic relationship between Vigna unguiculata ssp. unguiculata and other species belonging to the same genus as well as its genetic variation. Besides, the development of genetic map allowed the chromosome localization of molecular markers associated with disease resistance, ...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization of Type II Transposable Elements in Cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp]
Previous genetic studies in cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp] have shown that an active bipartite transposable element (TE) is responsible for a range of mutant phenotypes of its leaf, stem and flower. Since type II TEs have not been characterized at the molecular level in cowpea, this study was initiated to survey the presence of type II TEs in the cowpea genome. Type II TEs: Enhancer/Suppr...
